Matthew ‘Matt’ Mezeul is a real estate attorney and former substance abuse clinician whose career cuts across law, public service, and advocacy. Based in New York, Matthew Mezeul has spent years developing expertise in commercial real estate transactions, REIT formation, and complex joint ventures while maintaining a strong commitment to youth counseling and rehabilitation services.
Matthew Mezeul’s legal career began with a judicial internship at the Nassau County Supreme Court, where he researched case law, assisted in drafting legal decisions, and honed his skills in legal analysis and writing. This experience provided him with foundational insights into civil litigation, including personal injury and accident cases, and reinforced his analytical and writing capabilities.
Since September 2023, Mr. Mezeul has served as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in the firm’s real estate group. In this role, he handles complex commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, and REIT formation and maintenance. He manages the day-to-day process of high-value transactions and coordinates communication among executives, outside counsel, and junior associates.
